CrimeTracer is a web-based application. To log in, go to https://crimetracer.soundthinking.com/app/ and enter your email address. Once you hit Search, you will be redirected to your agency's log in page. Enter your credentials here.
Note: If this is your first time logging in, you may be prompted to change your password. Learn more about activating your account.
Reason for usage is required by CJIS though your Agency might require additional acknowledgements. Agree to the terms of service your agency requires to continue.
The first page you land on is the Quick Search page. Use it like you would any other search engine. If you're looking for a person, you might search for their name, driver’s license, birthday, scars, or some other piece of information you might have.
Quick search returns all references to your search criteria. For example, if you search for "Brown eyed male 18 – 30", your result set will include all documents that mention brown eyes OR male OR the age range 18 – 30. The more relevant results will be higher in the result set.
Once you have your results, you can refine them by using the facets on the left. You can restrict the search to a specific Agency, Document type, or Year.
Click on a result to view it's document details. Click Visualize to see a visual representation of the entities contained within the document details.
From the Quick Search page, click the Advanced Search link below the search bar. Now you can do custom searches based on more specific criteria.
Advanced search only shows results based on your search criteria. For example, if you search for a brown-eyed male, 18 - 30, your result set will only contain documents where a male has been identified as having brown eyes AND being 18 to 30 years old.
Searches can be customized to the entities available in the tabs — Person, Vehicle, Location, Organization, Firearm, Property, Phone, and Document.
